Malay Wedding
We attended a Malay wedding of Kitas co-worker Hisyam and his fiance Maya today. We were a little late but arrived in time to see their dramatic entrance.
Hisyam and Maya were actually married the previous evening at the Mosque, so the Wedding is a celebration of the new couple for friends and family.
The wedding was held at Maya's family home in the Lavendar Hills community. The home was decorated for the occasion with several rooms dedicated to the presentation of nuptial gifts.
Of course, every wedding needs entertainment for the guests. The band performed traditional songs on (mostly) traditional instruments. Hadi informed me that it is traditional for the groom to lead the band on drums for a few songs. Cool!
Eleanor took a liking to the (unusually tall) Atika, a Kitas employee. Mr. and Mrs. Tay. stopped by to say "Hello" as well.
